Moat Primary School

Our school, formed by the amalgamation of Moat Infant and Moat Junior Schools, has now been in existence for about eight years.  These have been very busy but also very successful years, thanks to the very hard work of everyone that makes up the "family of Moat Primary School".  Everyone's total commitment to the children in our care has helped to make the school the success it has become.

Since opening in September 2001, there have been many developments and changes, not least a major building refurbishment giving the children and staff accommodation worthy of the work they do.  Despite all these upheavals and changes to the school, in its short life, the school has gone from strength to strength, as we give the children quality education in not only the core subjects of Literacy, Numeracy, Science and Information & Communications Technology (ICT), but also providing the children with an enjoyable and exciting extended curriculum.  This approach to our children's education interestingly mirrors a recent government document entitled "Excellence and Enjoyment".  This continues in the form of the "City Curriculum" adopted by ourselves and pioneered by the Gloucester Education Achievement Zone, now the Excellence Cluster, of which we are an active member.

These exciting and challenging times, have helped to establish the school within the community, building on the firm foundations of the two previous schools, and providing your children with the quality education that they have a right to expect. We have also recently been awarded the Chief Constable's Bronze Award for Summer Garden Challenge and over the last year achieved a Healthy Schools Award and Activemark status.

As Headteacher, I am immensely grateful to everyone for the hard work and unstinting support that make Moat Primary School a happy, welcoming and hard working place, a factor regularly commented on by visitors, where children are reaching their potential.  I look forward to sharing these exciting times with you and your children, and hope this gives you a flavour of our school.

Vision Statement

To provide the children in our school with a warm caring

environment that promotes a sense of purpose, within a

framework of high expectations.

To enable children to become well-balanced, confident, caring,

tolerant and articulate individuals, who are able to fulfil their own

potential.

To provide sufficient "bridges" to the outside community and

society as a whole, to allow each child to fit into the wider

 world.
