just heard off sharon about the open evening in october. I attended moat infant/juniors from 1965 to 1972. Like all of you i enjoyed my time there. it was hard but fair and set me in good stead for what was to come. Has anyone entered the open evening details on the Matson born and breed site on facebook yet.

Hi, I was talking to Mrs. Browning the new head the other day & she said there was going to be an open day / evening for all of old pupils (October-ish), she also showed me some interesting old photo`s from when the school first opened ! So, if your coming along and have any old photos of the school (or school plays / events)then please bring them along.
I seem to recall our play was Timothy Claypole which I believe was organised by Mr. Sallis / Miss Hemmings.
Who remembers climbing the old Oak tree on the field ?. . .and what is really beneath the ground where the old Moat used to be ?? Perhaps it`s a job for "Time Team" ?
Hope to see y`all there....

following a recent visit up the hill, my daughter gem made me aware of the situation some teachers faced. i just write to inform you that i knew the guy that you helped up the hill and i told let the family know how you helped him, by sitting with him and singing until paramedics arrived. it was nice to hear how you helped him.
thankyou.

Hi Everyone
Just visiting site to let everyone know its the schools 50th anniversary this year. I attended the school from 1962 off and on till 2004... Yes this does make me the oldest pupil on record... The truth being my children went throught the school too and I also became employed once they grew up. It was with regret I left 5 years ago but still involved through the playgroup buyt also with my closest friends.. Mrs Fitzgerald and Mr Lloyd. Does anyone remember the christmas cakes and the PGL trips we did in year 6.
If anyone has pictures or stories at all please can you email me them and I will pass them on to the school..

Love Debbs xx

Hi, just found the moat school site, Born in Gloucester at Matson in 1953, I attended the moat infants and juniors when it first opened, somewhere between 1958 when I was 5 yrs old to early 60's. The Headmaster was Mr Stephenson. I was in the Robinswood Family House ( Red). I really enjoyed the Moat school days, I remember, making dough for bread, planting daffodil bulbs, painting, gardening, sports days etc. Yes lots of happy memories, except the one of being given the cane by Mr Stephenson in his office, for squirting water from the water fountain in the playground outside the toilet block near the top of the playground where the steps were that led up to the sports field, he then made me stand up on the stage in Assemby, in front of the whole school and made a example of me, it was very disciplined then, ( all because of an over zealous prefect at the time ). I also remember being in the school play in the court yard as a centurion soldier. I still have the certificate I was given when I left Moat Junior with the school creed."This is our house, let love abide here, let this room be full of contentment, it went on and ended with "for as many hands build a house, so many hearts made a school". I wondered if the same creed exist. I would be interested to hear from anyone who was at the Moat when I was , or any of the teaching staff. I am now 54, and a Professional Care Manager in Bristol, so I think to Moat stood me in Good stead. My mother and sisters still live in Gloucester now in the tuffley area.
Hope to hear from someone

My son (Y1) goes to Moat Primary School and loves it - he is coming on leaps and bounds.

The Headteacher and teachers are really caring and definately have the interests of the children at the forefront.

A superb school - hope you go on from strength to strength.

Moat Primary was my first primary school way back in 1970, with the help of the internet it is great to be able to go back in time and see how far things have come.
